The Science of Nano-C

The Science of Nano-C

Why delivery is everything in vitamin C skincare — and how we solved it.

The Problem with Conventional Vitamin C Serums

L-ascorbic acid is the gold-standard, clinically proven form of vitamin C — but it has a fundamental limitation: its molecular size. In a conventional serum, most of the active ingredient sits on the surface of the skin, unable to penetrate to the deeper dermal layers where collagen synthesis and photoprotection actually occur.

The result? Serums that look impressive on paper but underdeliver in practice. At Trifinity Biosciences, we set out to solve this at the molecular level.

Our Solution: Proprietary Nanoemulsion Technology

Nanoemulsion is a pharmaceutical-grade delivery system that encapsulates active ingredients in ultra-fine droplets — typically 20 to 200 nanometers in diameter, compared to the 1,000–10,000 nm droplets found in conventional emulsions. At this scale, the physics of skin penetration change dramatically.

Smaller particles navigate the intercellular lipid matrix of the stratum corneum more efficiently, reaching the viable epidermis and upper dermis where they can exert their full biological effect. This isn't a marketing claim — it's established biophysics, supported by peer-reviewed research in transdermal drug delivery.

Our proprietary formulation process stabilizes L-ascorbic acid within this nanoemulsion matrix, protecting it from oxidation while dramatically improving its bioavailability at the site of action.

The Ingredient Stack: Formulated for Synergy

Every ingredient in Nano-C was chosen for a specific, evidence-based reason. Together, they form a system greater than the sum of its parts.

15% L-Ascorbic Acid

The clinically validated concentration for stimulating collagen synthesis, neutralizing free radicals, and inhibiting melanin production. At 15%, you get meaningful results without the irritation risk of higher concentrations. Delivered via nanoemulsion, this potency reaches where it needs to go.

Vitamin E (Tocopherol)

A fat-soluble antioxidant that works in concert with vitamin C. The two vitamins regenerate each other in a synergistic antioxidant cycle, extending the protective effect of both. Vitamin E also reinforces the skin barrier and provides additional photoprotection.

Ferulic Acid

A plant-derived phenolic antioxidant that stabilizes both vitamin C and vitamin E, doubling their photoprotective efficacy. Ferulic acid also has its own UV-absorbing properties and has been shown to reduce UV-induced skin damage independently. It is the keystone of our antioxidant triad.

Trehalose

A naturally occurring disaccharide used by organisms to survive extreme dehydration. In skincare, trehalose acts as a powerful humectant and cellular protectant, helping skin cells maintain hydration and structural integrity under environmental stress. It also contributes to the long-term stability of our nanoemulsion formula.

Why It Matters

The skincare industry is crowded with products that prioritize aesthetics over efficacy. At Trifinity Biosciences, we believe the most important thing a serum can do is work — and that requires getting the right ingredients to the right place in the right concentration.

Nano-C is the product of that conviction: a single, precisely formulated serum that combines pharmaceutical delivery science with a clinically validated antioxidant complex. No filler ingredients. No compromises.
